The Seed Catalogs are here!
I love seed catalogs. The exotic fruits and vegetables; the colorful, glossy photographs; the beautifully written descriptions that make me want to buy 10 different varieties of each item. There is nothing more exciting for me in the depths of winter than staring at seed catalogs daydreaming of every vegetable imaginable.
I know many people now prefer the greener method of choosing seeds via the internet, but I really enjoy a physical catalog. I am definitely preferential to the ones with the bright glossy pages and elegant photographs. Black and white pages with hand drawn vegetables: sorry, it just doesn't do it for me. I am drawn in by the glitz that certain catalogs have. With that being said, I ordered my seeds this year from a mix of 3 of the shiniest, pretties catalogs I could find: Johnny's, Seed Savers Exchange and Rare Seeds. I spent hours pouring over these pages, marking them up, limiting them down and finally, after much deliberation, making my selections.
I think this year's garden is going to be wonderful!
